Salt Water Jellyfish

Jellyfish are marine creatures. They are found all over the world in the seas and also in the oceans. They can be found in the deep waters or the surface of the water. They may be found in the salty seas or also in the fresh waters. Not only the salty seas but also the fresh water sources and aquariums can be a place of living for these Jellyfish.

There has been a huge rise in the number of the Jellyfish found in the seas. This is due to the extensive over fishing by the people. Increase in population puts an increased demand on the need for food and other necessities.

Due to an excessive demand for fish, there has been wide spread over fishing. Now the fact is that fish and Jellyfish both depend upon the same factors for food. Actually there is a tough competition going on in the seas and oceans for the amount of food available, between the fish and the Jellyfishes.

Now when the fish are getting reduced in numbers, due to over fishing, the Jellyfish find lesser competition and can merrily gorge on the extra food available. The excessive dumping of the sewage and fertilizers in to the seas and oceans is an additional plus point in nutrition for these creatures. Sewage is extremely rich in nutrients and helps the Jellyfish to feed, grow and multiply rapidly.

The Jellyfish found in the salty waters are usually poisonous and sting humans. They can be quite large too with a variety of different colors and shapes too. They can be quite heavy too, with weight of each Jellyfish exceeding two hundred kilos and more than two meters in length. Such salty water Jellyfish are not only dangerous for the swimmers but also a great nuisance for the fisher men too, with these enormous creatures getting trapped in the nets.
